My Tips for Decorating for Christmas

Christmas Nov 28, 2025

For years, I’ve been guilty of girl-mathing my way through measurements and hoping for the best! But having the right measuring tools has made such a difference to my DIY projects.

Whether I’m hanging something on the wall, planning out a bigger renovation or just getting the house ready for Christmas. These four Bosch tools have become my go-to kit for getting everything level, measured and safely installed. For Christmas I wanted to add a little magic to the dining room, so I kept things simple with some paper garland and these cute little star lights.

What I used

Adding the Christmas decorations

  1. To make the paper chain garland I cut strips of different coloured cardstock and stapled them together to form a chain.
  2. For the star garland, I cut star shapes with a rectangle cut out in the centre. Then, I threaded through the paper rope.
  3. I started by working out where I wanted the garland and star lights to sit, using the Bosch UniversalDistance to measure the space. I used the Quingo Cross Line Laser and Atino to create straight, level guides and make sure the decorations would be evenly positioned. Before adding any fixings, I used the UniversalDetect to check behind the wall and find suitable places to drill.
  4. Once everything was measured and marked, I added the fixings and hung the garland in place, allowing it to drape naturally.
  5. Finally, I added the little star lights, spacing them out across the garland to finish it off.

Such a simple update, but it instantly made the dining room feel a little more festive! I love that a few decorations can completely change the feel of a space without needing to do too much. Can’t wait for next Christmas!
