There’s nothing better than making some beautiful handmade gift wrap, but sometimes it can be time-consuming and tricky to do, but not these gift boxes! I recently made these and they close with a gentle pull of ribbon that draws the sides together. They are so simple to do and if you use coloured card or paint your own you’ll find that you can make them so cute!
And if you’re looking for ideas to put inside your boxes, I personally always reach for tea! The beautiful gift boxes from Dilmah have every option covered: from the classic Dilmah Christmas Tea Gift Pack, to the fun Ceylon Tea Gift Pack and the Dilmah Advent Calendar. Materials
- Colourful card paper
- Velvet ribbon
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Ruler
How to make:
Step 1: Trace the shape: Start by placing your tea box (or any small gift) on a piece of sturdy card and trace around it. Repeat for all sides so you have a full box template laid out flat.
Step 2: Cut and fold: Carefully cut out your template, then fold along the traced lines to form the base and sides of the box.
Step 3: Punch holes: Using a hole punch, make small holes along the top edges of each side — this is where your ribbon will thread through.
Step 4: Thread the ribbon: Weave your ribbon through the holes, looping it around each side.
Step 5: Tie it together: Place your gift inside, then pull the ribbon ends gently to draw the sides together — the folds will close in beautifully, creating a soft, gathered finish. Tie in a bow to secure, and you’re done!
